The Juggling Mother

Random rants from a mother of four juggling it all - husband, children, housework, friends. You name it I juggle it.

Good Friday!

First of all let me say that we seem to have defeated "The Sickness". My oldest is feeling much better today, although we have him on a bland diet to ensure that his stomach doesn't revolt, and so far the other two babes have not shown any signs of getting sick. Could it be over that quickly? Only time will tell!

Oh, and when I wrote my post yesterday morning, I forgot to mention a Happy 2nd Birthday to my beautiful, wonderful, sweet, funny, adorable niece. She is such a joy and I love her so much! I called yesterday afternoon to wish her a Happy Birthday. I could just eat her up she is so cute! And smart! She really is amazing and such a special little girl.

Today my husband has the day off because it is Good Friday. Yeah! So my juggling gets split between the two of us. He will be doing all dishes and most diaper changes to save my dry, cracked and bleeding hands from all of the hand washing. He will also play with, and referee, the children while I get more chores done around the house.

Because yesterday was so trying with my oldest being sick, I am going to disappear today for a little while. And I actually get to take a shower and will have time to put on make-up before I go out. I have to go to the super Wal-Mart to get formula. Not my favorite place to shop, but one of the only places that sells the specialized formula we need for the allergy affected baby - and the cheapest place to get it. While I am there I can pick up other groceries that we need at a cheaper cost than my normal store. They sell chicken there much cheaper and I will stock up on soy milk because Wal-Mart is the cheapest place to buy that as well. Since I will be in the neighborhood, I may also drop off some boxes that I have for my wonderful friend who will be moving in a few weeks. I may even treat myself to lunch while I am out. I haven't eaten at a fast food joint in over ten months! (I breast fed the baby until about a month ago, and with her allergies I had a very restricted diet.)

When I get back from my "escape", I have to get the house ready for hosting Easter dinner. I have to give it a really good cleaning. But with my husband home, this task is accomplished much more easily than if he were working. And as always, there is laundry to be done.

The laundry is never complete in a household of five. Especially when the children's clothes get washed separately in special detergent because of their sensitive skin. Once the baby is a little older, I am going to try washing the kids clothes in a detergent we can all use and see if their skin can handle it. I am going to ask the allergist about what brand she recommends. We currently use Tide for our clothes. It is what my mother used and I like the scent, but from what I have heard it is the worst when it comes to added chemicals and such. My life will be much easier when I can wash their clothes with ours.

So off I go. Today will be a busy day but a good day...I say that every day and usually something happens that doesn't meet my expectation for the day. We shall see today...
